Apple Hill Drive

The perfect weekend trip in the California Foothills."

Apple Hill is located in and around Camino just east of Placerville in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains at about 3000 foot elevation (out of the valley fog and below the snowline).

Visit on an autumn weekend and you'll find apples, pumpkins, pony rides, face painting, crafts, wine tasting, music and homemade goodies such as apple pies and fresh-squeezed juice.

The Apple Hill Growers Association includes about 50 ranches.  By Labor Day (September 4th), most Apple Hill growers are open for visitors (some are open year-round) .  Watch the apples being squeezed for juice and the bakeries in operation.  Enjoy an old-fashioned picnic while visiting these working ranches.

By October 15, most pumpkin patches are open and the kids search the fields for their jack-o- lantern.

After Thanksgiving, families come here to cut their Christmas trees, search the many craft booths for the perfect Christmas present and enjoy the beautiful rural beauty.

Several award-winning wineries with comfortable tasting rooms call Apple Hill home.  Wine tasting is available year-round.

From Sacramento: Take Highway 50 East to Placerville. Take the Schnell School Road exit #48. Turn left and continue 1/2 mile to Carson Road. Turn right on Carson Road and you are on the west end of Apple Hill Drive.
